St. Louis Municipal Courts Offering Amnesty Program in January
Beginning Monday, January 29th through Thursday, February 1st, 2018 St. Louis City Municipal Court will be hosting a warrant amnesty program.
Beginning next week St. Louis City Municipal Court will be hosting a warrant amnesty program. The program will take place from Monday, January 29 through Thursday, February 1 and will forgive outstanding warrants for all City ordinance charges, excluding DUIs, leaving the scene of an accident and prostitution. Participants will be allowed to pay original fines and costs without penalty.
Participants will be able to speak with customer service to resolve outstanding payments and warrants. Once the warrants have been resolved, defendants will get a new court date or be reset on a new payment docket with a payment plan for those cases that are assessed. No defendants will be arrested in court during amnesty.
“The City of St. Louis has more than 54,000 outstanding warrants. We encourage individuals who have not yet resolved a warrant to use this program as an opportunity to fulfill their obligations to the law without facing undue hardship,” said City Court Administrator Richard Torack.
The warrant amnesty program will be held at the St. Louis City Municipal Court at 1520 Market Street (enter off of 16th Street). The Court will be open from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. There will be extended hours on Tuesday, January 30 and Wednesday, January 31 until 7 p.m.
Participants should bring a photo identification with their name. There is no processing fee to participate. Any person can check to see whether they have a case, the status of their case, and whether it is in warrant status online at https://www.municourt.net/ [www.municourt.net].
During the amnesty program, rescheduling a court day is free. However, if a defendant misses that re-assigned court date, the cases will go back into warrant status and a bond will have to be posted.
