Prodigy's Family Sues Hospital & Physician For Wrongful Death

The Source is reporting that the late Prodigy's family is suing the hospital that he died in and the physician who cared for him before he passed

Wednesday (June 20) marked the one-year anniversary of the hip hop vet's death. However, it seems like just yesterday that the legend left us. Now, Prodigy's family is reportedly trying to find justice for the deceased star.

"The Source is exclusively reporting that on June 15th, Prodigy’s family and estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Las Vegas against the hospital that was treating Prodigy when he died," the hip hop publication reports. "The complaint alleges that the Spring Valley Medical Center, as well as one of its physicians, provided improper medical care which resulted in Prodigy’s death."

In June 2017, Prodigy was quickly rushed to the hospital after experiencing a medical episode that was the result of his sickle cell anemia, an illness that the rapper battled with for his whole life.

However, the Clark County Medical Examiner later determined that the Mobb Deep member actually died from accidentally choking on an egg while at the hospital. He was only 42 years old.

The Source adds: "The complaint, which was filed on behalf of the family by The Gage Law Firm, alleges that the Spring Valley hospital breached their duty of care for Prodigy by 'failing to maintain a working IV access,' and by 'failing to continuously monitor oxygen levels' as ordered by physicians in the hospital and that those failures lead to the death of Prodigy."
