Nicki Minaj Is an Ancient Queen in "Ganja Burn" Video

On Friday (August 10), Nicki Minaj surprised fans by releasing her highly anticipated fourth studio album Queen after announcing it would be pushed back  a week due to  waiting for sample clearance.

On Monday (August 13),  the "Chun-Li" rapper surprised fans once again by dropping the visuals for the album's opening track, "Ganja Burn." The nearly six-and-a-half-minute-long clip begins with several text paragraphs that tell the story of an ancient queen that let her army get defeated, only to have her soldiers rise again, stronger and more protective than ever, and exterminate her enemies.

Playing on the album's queen motif, we see Nicki climb up from the desert sand in rags. When her army is reborn, she's clad in regal gold, and at one point in the video dons the same outfit and pose she's positioned in on the album's cover. Like the cover art, the visuals are washed with an orange hue.

Watch the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott directed video below.

One of the album's most talked about tracks thus far is "Barbie Dreams" — a song some people think of as a diss track despite Nicki insisting that it's not. Regardless of its seriousness, some of those lyrics are pretty savage.
