JAY-Z Lent His Private Plane To Ahmaud Arbery's Attorneys For Court Hearing

JAY-Z is doing all he can to help the racial inequality facing Black America. Not only did he buy full-page newspaper spreads to promote the Black Lives Matter movement, but the hip-hop titan also lent a private plane to the attorneys representing the family of Ahmaud Arbery, the unarmed Black man who was shot and killed during a job in February.

"Court hearing in Brunswick, Georgia, this morning. No flights to take us there last night. @leemerrittesq and I spent hours trying to find flights or cars," attorney Blerim Elmazi shared on Instagram. "At 1 a.m., we started losing hope till we got a call from Jay Z's people at Roc Nation who chartered a flight for us to attend this hearing with the family of Ahmaud Arbery. Thankful for their support. Updates on the hearing soon."

Meanwhile, over on S. Lee Merritt's account, the attorney also spoke about HOV's kind gesture, writing, "That’s part of the P.P.E plan to get us out of this Crisis (People Power Political Power Economic Power)." In the photos from their posts, the two are seen in front of a private aircraft wearing suits with George Floyd face masks and holding up red shirts that read: "Legal Observer."

In early May, graphic footage of Arbery's killing surfaced onto the blogosphere and it sees father and son Gregory McMichael, 64, and Travis McMichael, 34, chasing down Arbery in a pickup truck in Glynn County, Georgia. Arbery can be seen in a physical struggle with the elder McMichael, who is also armed, before the young McMichael opens fire on Arbery. In a report from The New York Times, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it was the younger McMichael who shot and killed the unarmed Arbery on February 23.
