Today is Nipsey Hussle's Birthday!

Emerging from the West Coast, Hussle released his first mixtape, Slauson Boy Volume 1, which led to his signing to Cinematic Music Group and Epic Records.

Hussle became known for his mixtapes, Bullets Ain't Got No Name, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues, and Crenshaw.

His debut album Victory Lap was released in 2018 to critical acclaim and commercial success, and was nominated for the Best Rap Album at the Grammys in 2019. On March 31, 2019, Hussle was fatally shot, by Eric Holder, who confronted Hussle earlier that day. Holder, was arrested and charged with murder and found guilty on July 6, 2022.

Two posthumous Grammys for the songs "Racks in the Middle" and "Higher" were awarded to Hussle in the Best Rap Performance and Best Rap/Sung Performance categories, at the next year's Awards.

In honor of his 37th birthday, the late Nipsey Hussle received a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame.

Along with, the Black Eyed Peas, actor Michael B. Jordan, and Michael Strahan Nipsey will be honored as a part of the 2022 class, and will join DJ Khaled, 50 Cent, Diddy, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.

L.A. will also honor Nipsey with a new Hyde Park Station on the K Line in South Los Angeles being dedicated to the late rapper.

“After he caught the vision and he understood what the train would mean to this community and his neighborhood and businesses like his, he got very involved in making sure that this train worked on behalf of our people and helped us express and live out our possibilities and our hopes and our dreams,” Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson said.

Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed by Eric Holder, Jr. in front of his store on Slauson Avenue in 2019. The shooter was convicted of murder earlier this year.
