JUICE WRLD: Rising Star Gone Too Soon

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Juice made tributes to Lil Peep and XXXTentacion on an EP called Too Soon.
  • Juice’s influencers clearly went deeper than rap. His music was even called “emo rap.”
  • He's another star gone too soon.
  • Juice Wrld released two solo albums in his short career, Goodbye & Good Riddance and Death Race for Love

Chicago rapper Juice Wrld died early Sunday morning in his hometown.

The 21-year-old artist had just landed at the Chicago Midway Airport when he suffered a seizure. Even though Juice, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, was taken to the hospital, it was too late, and he died shortly after.

Juice started out as a teenage Soundcloud rapper called JuicetheKidd. He later changed his name to Juice Wrld, which he said “represents taking over the world.” The takeover gained momentum in 2017, when he dropped his breakout hit, “Luicd Dreams.” By mid-2017, he received co-signs from the likes of Waka Flocka Flame,Southside,G Herbo and Lil Bibby, eventually signing to Bibby’s Grade A Productions.

Even though he was only 21, Juice made a big mark on pop culture. Beyond “Lucid Dreams,” he was known for “All Girls Are the Same” which was remixed by Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty. In 2018, he featured on Travis Scott’s Astroworld, dropped an album with Future called Wrld on Drugs, and announced plans for a tour with Nicki Minaj called the Nicki Wrld Tour.
