UPDATE (10:35 a.m. ET): Pop Smoke was apparently renting the house from the husband of Teddi Mellencamp, who's on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and is the daughter of legendary rocker John Mellencamp.
Pop Smoke was shot and killed on Wednesday morning in a home invasion robbery.
Pop Smoke, best known for his hit song “Welcome to the Party,” has worked with and been remixed by Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott. The 20-year-old New York rapper, real name Bashar Barakah Jackson, was at a Hollywood Hills home around 4:30 in the morning when two guys wearing hoodies and masks broke into the house. The masked men fired multiple shots, hitting and critically wounding the rapper before fleeing on foot.
He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood and pronounced dead.
It's unknown if the men who killed him had a connection to Smoke, who was a gang-affiliated artist and known Crip. (TMZ)
