UPDATE:

Police have identified Freddie Lee Trone's 17-year-old son as the shooter who robbed and killed PnB Rock. The teen was arrested for murder on Wednesday while his father remains on the loose. According to police, both Trone and his son were already in the parking lot of the Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles when PnB Rock pulled up. After his son shot and robbed the rapper, the elder Trone acted as the getaway driver. Once they got away, police say the father-and-son duo burned the vehicle.

ORIGINAL STORY

Police have officially identified a suspect in the murder of PnB Rock.

According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, September 28, detectives on the case believe Freddie Lee Trone is "a person involved" in the murder of the Philadelphia native. The Los Angeles Police Department wouldn't say if he's the one who shot and robbed PnB Rock before the rapper passed away from his injuries. The killer made off with PnB's jewelry and escaped in a getaway car. At the moment, Trone is the only person police have labeled as a suspect. They released a mugshot of Trone and consider him to be "armed and dangerous."

PnB Rock was shot in the chest/back during an armed robbery at the Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in Inglewood. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. He was only 30 years old. Initially, police suspected that robbers knew where the rapper was following social posts he and his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang made while they were at the restaurant. However, now they believe the robbery wasn't just a random act.

As a part of their investigation, the LAPD extended their search cross country to Georgia and his hometown in Pennsylvania after they suspected the incident was planned. They looked into his past dealings in Atlanta and Philly to see if he had any known enemies. At the moment, there's no confirmation if Trone was discovered through their out-of-state investigation.

PnB Rock was laid to rest last week in his hometown during a Muslim funeral service as his family planned.
