Toni Braxton and Bryan "Birdman" Williams reportedly got married after spending the past eight years in an on-and-off relationship — and there's a peculiar plot twist that will have fans talking.
According to legal documents TMZ revealed on Thursday, April 10, the couple secretly got hitched on August 8, 2024. They never announced their nuptials because the newlyweds reportedly ran into issues just days after they tied the knot. The outlet claimed Braxton confirmed their wedding date on divorce papers she filed just two weeks after the ceremony. She and her lawyer listed the couple's separation date as August 10 and claimed their relationship was "irretrievably broken."
Toni Braxton and Birdman began dating in 2016. The couple got engaged in 2018 but rumors about their relationship began to swirl in January 2019 after Birdman posted and deleted an Instagram Story that said "It's Over." Braxton also made a suspicious post about "starting a new chapter," which fueled the rumors even more. However, Braxton herself shut down the rumors a few months later and said they were good at the time.
"We don't know what happened," Braxton told ET. "It just kind of [came out of nowhere]. Someone said it and we were like, 'OK, we'll just ride with it because it'll give us some privacy. So that's good. But we're good."
The couple reportedly split again in 2022, but rumors that they reconciled spread a year later after blogs reported the couple got married in Mexico. "My dear friend @birdman and I are not married...never been married," she wrote. "We are both single."
Despite the claims on the legal documents, Toni Braxton and Birdman are technically still married. Braxton reportedly dismissed her divorce petition in January 2025 and Birdman's signature is on the paperwork. It looks like the veteran artists are still husband and wife. As of press time, they have yet to address their marital status.
