Rihanna says she's impressed by A$AP Rocky's recent progression as an actor.

The superstar couple attended the 35th annual Gotham Awards in New York City on Monday night, December 1. Rocky was nominated for Breakthrough Performance following his roles in films like Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest and Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. While they were on the red carpet, Rihanna was asked how she felt about her children's father's acting skills. She said she's "truly proud" of the actor he's become.

“Oh my God, I’m so proud of him,” Riri said.

"Every time I see him on camera in a movie, I’m like, ‘What?’" she added. "I get amazed because I didn’t know he had it in him. But he’s such a great talent.”

A$AP Rocky has appeared in a few movies as himself, but he landed his first major role in the 2015 movie Dope. He elevated his acting career after he starred in Monster (2018) alongside Nas, Jennifer Hudson, John David Washington, and Jeffrey Wright. He truly had a breakthrough year after starring in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest and Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

“It feels amazing, I can’t lie to you,” he told Extra. “It fits me well. It suits me very well.”

Rihanna has also had plenty of success as an actress over the past decade. She recently starred as "Smurfette" in the new Smurfs film. She shared her first single of the year, "Friend of Mine," as part of the film's soundtrack.
